How Paris looked at 24
Celebrating my 24th birthday with a spontaneous trip to Paris, France. 🇫🇷
It was such a fluke shot that turned out to be good! If i show you other photos from this moment, they are so funny, I look eyes half closed and drunk in one and looking airy fairy in another one.
Lets start with what I'm wearing H&M Kimono I bought in LA, the statement YSL ring, camilla and marc body suit, a vintage chanel skirt, Sass and bide bracelet in left arm and Marilyn in Muse, Shaizy Shoes I designed in my 1st year, 2nd collection!! None left for sale ofcourse. All sold out, otherwise I would link you to the product =D
Wearing a dress I grabbed from a friend, Simi when I was helping her move houses from Sydney to Melbourne. I am sure you can recognize the balenciaga sport handbag and prada sunglasses which were purchased from YFS Sunglasses.
This is an exclusive shot taken from the private rooftop section of the Norte Dame. Its an interesting story how I got access to it. 😂😊😉✨🙏 It was 15th August, my birthday and I was standing in line outside the Notre Dame to get in. Went to the church, then level 1 to the rooftop with all the tourists. Just before leaving, one of the security guards pointed at me and goes - hey you! Come here. I was like shit what did I do? Did I take a wrong photo? Do an action that's considered rude in paris? Am I in trouble? Shit! I come closer and he says, come with me (in a very loud rude voice) I was definitely in trouble now! He takes me to an open door that leads to the Norte Dame bell 🔔 and there are two other security officers standing. This time I was definitely screwed, I turned around and saw no tourists near by, one or two people really far away taking photos. I looked at the three security guards standing. One of them asks really politely, would you like to see the Norte Dame bell? I thought for a few seconds and with always a sense of thrill and adventure in my soul, I said, Yes! I went upstairs with him and I saw this huge gigantic bell. And it started to ring! So damn loud that my ears went numb. His friend grabbed big industrial ear muffs for us. We stood there for good minute watching the bell ring. The vibration and the sound of the bell almost made the whole building shake. Every cell in my body was moving with the sound of the bell. I've never experienced sound at such high intensity. It was surreal and beautiful. He then showed me the street view from the window - a big religious procession was happening with the pope for Assumption day.
We then walked to the barricaded locked door on the rooftop, which had access to the rest of the rooftop where no tourists or anyone was allowed to go, except ofcourse the Notre Dame security. They then showed me the entire inaccessible rooftop area! We chilled out there and hung out for an hour or two, chatting about life.
I came back and told the story to my friend and she was shocked! She said no one, she repeats no one has seen the Norte Dame bell 🔔 when it's ringing and no one has seen the level 2 of notre Dame inaccessible area. It's all barricaded and locked. I mean it was my birthday and I saw something really awesome. Definitely a gift from above? (Or maybe making crazy choices?) Atleast that's what I like to say to myself.
Well funny thing is, I think the universe says it too. Right at the time of Notre Dame bell ringing, the priest of the Notre Dame was having a massive procession on the streets and all the streets around the area were blocked. Apparently this is the day Mary went to heaven! Jesus' Mary! Yes August 15 is a big public holiday in France as they celebrate the day Mary went to heaven! And I saw that in action with the bell ringing asking heaven to wake up and prepare for Mary's arrival. Gotta be a coincidence? I don't think so! Wake up Paris! Shaizy is in town 😂😂😂 (chuckles a big laugh)
Tourist area of the Notre Dame. The 1st level of Notre Dame as you can see it's all barricaded.
Im wearing Tiffany necklace and Sass and Bide dress.
Non-Tourist area of the Notre Dame. View from the unbarricated area.
The street procession by the pope on Assumption of Mary day on 15th of August 2012. Same day as my birthday.
For those of you who are wondering what an Assumption day is. "The Assumption of Mary into Heaven, often shortened to the Assumption and also known as the Falling Asleep of the Blessed Virgin Mary according to the beliefs of the Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, and parts of Anglicanism, was the bodily taking up of the Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her earthly life." -wikipedia
Aussumption Day of Mary, street procession.
The Notre Dame bell 🔔 up close and personal.
"The large bell which is run during major religious ceremonies"
The real proof! 😳 🔔🔔🔔🔔🔈🔊📢📢📢
With the infamous Notre Dame security guards 🚨 😎🤓
My best friends friend recommended to try this cafe - J'go in Paris. Google it, you'll find it. And I still remember how amazing their food and service was. Ofcourse paired with a few bags from LADUREE
The gardens of whatever. lol
View infront of the Eiffel Tower. Wearing a dress bought from some online store back in the day. I love shopping clothes from unique, boutique, designer or different online stores, this means no one will have what I wear! I don't like wearing anything that everyone else wears. So I love boutique designer stores or unique online shops. Chanel handbag, scarf given by my Chinese supplier (who was trying to impress me to gain my business - that did not work but the scarf did! It is really beautiful - raw silk and handmade) I absolutely love the texture and feeling of it. And I am wearing the Gemini Vision wedges when I first designed it and was testing my first every sample that was made 5 years ago in 2012, testing it in Paris of course! I love wearing and testing the shoes I design for comfort and for how I can improve the product better. Turns out, that first sample, I ended up forgetting it at my friends apartment in Paris. Marine, kept that first pair of Gemini Visions and wore them to death. Annoyingly enough, she had no criticism to improve the shoe because she loved it so much and wore it to work everyday. This meant that without having the shoe sample infront of me, It was very difficult to communicate the improvements about the shoes to our suppliers. Somehow, I figured it out and here we are with the Gemini Visions wedges! You can purchase them online at our store. They are also available in Golden Orange.
View from the top of the Eiffel Tour. Similar accessories. The neck choker - is bought from a random market in Guangzhou, China. The Jacket is a 300Euro lace jacket from some famous french designer in Paris, which I don't even remember the name! When I came back to the apartment in Paris, my french girlfriends knew the designer and were so shocked I bought it from there as it is a very well known French brand. It was a birthday present from myself to myself. So I indulged in a random buy. haha Yes I believe in giving myself birthday presents. I believe it is one day of the year you are allowed to give yourself a treat, pamper yourself and spoil yourself to the max. So do it! Now, since I am more wise, I continue to do that everyday! :D I live everyday like I am buying myself presents for my birthday! haha Anyways, the sad thing is, I lost the jacket!!!!!!!!!! Barely owned it for a year and I don't know maybe I left it somewhere on the train or the bus, just could not find it again. Really sad, I enjoyed it while it lasted.
Ahh Still, can't believe I lost this beautiful lace jacket. =( Oh well.
But here are some of the photos from the Parisian trip in 2012 and the stories behind them 😃 💥
